NOTICE OF PUBLIC BUDGET HEARING

November 26, 2018 – 6:00 p.m. – Community Center

 

Notice is hereby given that on November 26, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Center a Public Hearing on the Proposed 2019 Budget of the Town of Russell, Bayfield County will be held. A copy of the proposed 2019 Budget detail is available on the Town website, by contacting the Town Clerk at (715)779-5338 or it may be inspected at the Town Clerk’s Office at 35900 State Highway 13.

SPECIAL ELECTORS MEETING

November 26, 2018 – Immediately Following the Budget Hearing – Community Center

 

Notice is hereby given that on November 26, 2018, immediately following the completion of the Public Hearing on the proposed Year 2019 Budget, which begins at 6:00 p.m., a Special Town Electors Meeting is called pursuant to Section 60.12(1)(c) of Wisconsin Statutes by the Town Board for the following purposes:

 

  1. To adopt the 2018 Town Tax Levy to be paid in 2019 pursuant to section 60.10(1)(a) of Wisconsin State Statutes.
  2. Set the wage for the Town Chairman effective following the April 2019 Spring Election.

 Notice of Meeting of the Municipal Board of Canvassers

At the close of voting on Election Day, pursuant to the provisions of Wis. Stat. § 19.84, the Election Inspectors will convene as a joint meeting of the Municipal Board of Canvassers for the purpose of conducting the local and municipal canvasses pursuant to Wis. Stat. §§7.51 and 7.53(1). This meeting will be open to the public pursuant to Wis. Stat. §§ 19.81-89.


Voting Equipment Test Nov 6 Election

NOTICE OF PUBLIC TESTING OF ELECTRONIC VOTING EQUIPMENT

Pursuant to Section 5.84(1) of Wisconsin State Statutes, electronic voting equipment to be used at the General Election on November 6, 2018 will be tested by the Town Clerk at the following time and location: Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Town of Russell Garage; 35900 State Highway 13; Bayfield, WI 54814. The public is welcome to attend. Questions regarding this test should be directed to the Clerk at (715)779-3284.

 The Town of Russell will be accepting bids for the sale of a 2004 Chevrolet 2500HD -4WD pick-up truck with Boss plow. The vehicle is being sold as is with no warranty/guarantees. Minimum bid is $2,500. You may view the vehicle at the Town of Russell Garage; 35900 State Highway 13; Bayfield, WI. The Town Board will open, read aloud and review bids at their meeting held at 7 p.m. on November 13, 2018. The Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids not determined to be in the best interest of the Town. Questions regarding this vehicle should be addressed to the Town Road Crew by calling (715)779-5338. To place a bid for this vehicle you must provide a sealed envelope labeled “Truck Bid” with your bid amount, name, address, and contact information enclosed and deliver it to the Town of Russell, 35900 State Highway 13; Bayfield, WI 54814 by 4 p.m. on Monday, November 12, 2018. Payment and removal of the vehicle is to occur no later than 10 days following notification by the Town to the successful bidder.

Absentee Voting November 6 General Election

TOWN OF RUSSELL – GENERAL ELECTION – NOVEMBER 6, 2018

 

VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may submit a request to vote an absentee ballot to their municipal clerk.  A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 10 consecutive days before the election.  The elector must also be registered in order to receive an absentee ballot.  Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued. 

You must make a request for an absentee ballot in writing or online at MyVote.wi.gov.

 

Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the primary or election or both.  You may also submit a written request in the form of a letter or you may apply for an absentee ballot online at MyVote.wi.gov.  Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature.  You may make application to your municipal clerk for an absentee ballot in person, by mail, by fax, by email or at MyVote.wi.gov.

The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is:

5 pm on the fifth day before the election, November 1, 2018.

Note:     Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror.  If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.

You may also request and vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office or other specified location during the days and hours specified for casting an absentee ballot in person.

The last day to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office: 5:00 p.m. November 4, 2018

No in-person absentee voting may occur on the day before the election.

The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on November 6, 2018.  Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.
