The Town of Russell hereby notifies that on May 4, 2020 at 8:00 a.m., weight restrictions on all roads within the Town of Russell will be removed pursuant to Wisconsin Statues 349.16

Little Sand Bay Rec Area Re-opening – COVID-19

The Town of Russell in cooperation with the National Park Service has been working to re-open our operations at the Little Sand Bay Campground and Recreation Area. We are still very concerned with the ongoing COVID-19 virus health emergency. We will modify our re-opening plans as needed to maintain the safety of our staff and visitors. Most amenities for campers are now available until further notice. Some tent only sites are closed. Water, restroom facilities, ice, wood and dump station services are available. The boat ramp and beach are open for use. The fish cleaning station is available. For more information you may contact reservation services at [email protected] or (715)779-5233. Your cooperation is appreciated and we want all of our visitors and guests to have a safe experience. PLEASE MAINTAIN SAFE DISTANCING PRACTICES WHEN VISITING.

Little Sand Bay Beach Closed to Smelting

Due to restrictions on social gathering and the COVID-19 Health Emergency, the Town of Russell has closed the beach area at Little Sand Bay to smelters until further notice.

 In March and April 2020, many of you requested ballots for the Special Election when you requested one for the April 7, 2020 Spring Election. Those ballots have already been sent to those requestors. If you have not, the Town of Russell is encouraging you to vote absentee for the May 12, 2020 Special Election. 

 Request an absentee ballot online and a ballot will be mailed to you. You will be required to send in a copy of your Photo ID. 

 Voters may also request an absentee ballot in writing (mail or email) to the Town Clerk’s office. The request must include: a copy of your Photo ID, your name, the address you are registered to, the address you wish to receive your ballot at, and a current phone number and/or email. The last day to request a ballot via mail is Thursday, May 7, 2020. 

 Voters can also vote in-person at the Town Garage prior to Election Day on Mondays, from 11am – 1pm. In-person voting ends on Friday, May 8, 2020.
